Vivian Louise Thomas was born on January 7, 1926 in Cuthbert, Georgia to Rand and Carrie Thomas. She was the eighth of ten siblings. She attended Public School in Cuthbert, Georgia and graduated from the Randolph County Training School in 1943. She furthered her education at the Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. She later moved to New York City and reacquainted herself with her classmate, Ulysses Donald, They married in 1946 and this union was blessed with three sons. Determined to continue her quest for knowledge, Vivian eventually found herself employed by the New York City Board of Education as an Educator (primarily focusing on Elementary and Junior High School students) and enjoyed a very fulfilling career well into the 1990's. "Grandma" or "Sis", as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She passionately loved her family, and friends. She always had a kind word for a troubled soul. Vivian devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in addition to the many children that she taught throughout the years. She was a woman of great wisdom, compassion, and understanding while faithfully managing the affairs of her household until the Lord called her home. Vivian departed this life on February 27, 2020, She was preceded in death by her son, Ted Donald, and husband, Ulysses Donald. Vivian will be sadly missed but leaves to cherish her legacy and wonderful memories to: her sons, Paul Donald of New York, NY, and Stephen Donald of New York, NY; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Donald of Teaneck, NJ; four grandchildren: Tracy Donald-Rose (Lewis) of Teaneck, NJ, Teresa Donald of Teaneck, NJ, Christal Donald of Orangeburg, SC, and Dalton Donald of Hamburg, Germany; three great grandchildren: Antonio Alvarez of Teaneck, NJ, Dwayne Donald of Teaneck, NJ, and Sasha Rose of Teaneck, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
