Obituary

On the 12 day of February 2023, the death angel saw fit to make a journey to select a flower from God's garden. The angel entered 1846 Matthews Avenue, Bronx, NY, and selected our beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend.

Sterling Sylvester Pleasant was born on March 12, 1955, in Halifax, VA, to the union of the late Levi Sylvester Pleasant and Emma Collins Pleasant. He attended grade school and junior high school in the Halifax, VA, public school system. He obtained his GED in New York City. He went on to work for AT&T as a Telecommunications Line Installer.

Sterling was preceded in death by his father, Levi, his brother, Ronald; and brother-in-law, Lonnie. He leaves to cherish sweet memories: his loving mother, Emma Pleasant; three sisters, Sandra Johnson, Thurla Yvette Pleasant (Brian), Shelby Foster (Leroy); one brother, Derrick Pleasant; ten nieces, Shanette, Schvonne, Gloria, Tinequa, Latonda, Christina, Shemika, Karen, LaToya, and Kawanna; two nephews, James and Lamaar; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews; cousins and friends.

Sterling truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with family and friends and Sunday dinner with his mother, to name a couple. Sterling was always the life of the party. A lively and amusing person. He was a movie buff and dabbled in carpentry and refinishing furniture. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He was always smiling and happy, even on his darkest days. He was a "teddy bear," and though he didn't have any children of his own, he was loved and treasured by his nieces and nephews. Sterling lived his life his way, and those who loved him should celebrate his memory by living life fully and freely. His spirit is now released from his worn-out shell of a body and is at rest. He will be greatly missed by his family.

STERLING, God looked around the garden and found an empty space.

He looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful, for He only takes the best.

He knew that you were weary, and He knew you were in pain.

He knew that you would never be well on earth again.

He saw the roads were getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb.

So, He closed your weary eyelids and whispered, peace be thine.

We love you, Sterling, but God loves you best. Sleep in heavenly peace!

Lovingly submitted His Family.
