Obituary

Sheila Juana Stanley Nash came into the world on March 31, 1961 in Macon, Georgia. She was the beautiful, bouncing baby girl of the late Oscar Andersen and Louella Stanley. Sheila earned her wings on June 7, 2022. As the child of an educator, Sheila learned at an early age the lessons needed to understand the importance of getting an education. Sheila received a formal education in the New York City public school system. After graduating from Julia Richman HS, she attended Suny Brockport College. Later, Sheila earned her bachelor's degree at the College of New Rochelle. She then continued her academic endeavors at Fordham University where she earned a master's degree in Early Childhood Education, and a second master's degree in Adult Education. Following in her mother's footsteps, Sheila became an educator and began teaching elementary school students at PS 92 in Manhattan. Like her mother, she enjoyed a rewarding career of teaching and developing the minds of young children. While working at PS 92, she met the love of her life, Michael Nash. The two fell in love and were married on September 26, 2007. They enjoyed listening to old school music, dancing, laughing, traveling and just spending alone time together. Anyone who knew Sheila would say, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was known for planning and organizing social gatherings whereby a fun time would be had by all. Sheila also loved to cook for those she loved. She had an amazing way of touching the hearts of everyone she encountered. Sheila had a way of making everyone feel as though they were her favorite. Sheila was a devoted, long time member of the Abundant Life Tabernacle Church in Bronx, New York. She served on the usher board for several years. She attended Sunday School and enjoyed singing on the church choir. For six years, Sheila took bible study classes at Christ Church in Manhattan. In 2016, Sheila became an Ordained Minister at the House of David in Queens, New York. Sheila is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Andersen and Louella Stanley, her aunts, Willie Bell Coates Hampton, Jessie Mae Stanley Walker, Lucy Stanley, Lizzie Stanley-Calistro, and Maryann Stanley-Marcano, her uncle, Elroy Calistro, and her great nephew, William Mullen IV also known as Little Bill. Sheila leaves to cherish her love and memories: her husband, Michael Nash; sister, Alicestein Mullen; brother, Anthony (Jim) Stanley; uncle, Roy Stanley (Faye); nephew, William (Billy) Mullen (Tamiko); nieces, Shamise Mullen Smithson (Keith), Antalena Stanley (Michael), Alisha Stanley (Kelvin), Angela Stanley (Jeremiah); nephew, Marquise Brown (Jamie); special cousin/sister, Alisa Stanley; godson, Johnathan McDonald; three special sisters; Beverly McDonald, Donna Marhold, and Sandra Burley; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
