Ruth Miller-Kendall was born July 15, 1928 in Columbia, South Carolina to the late James and Gladys Miller. She was the youngest of four sisters.
Ruth attended a private school in South Carolina called the Master Academy where she studied music and learned to play the piano. Shortly after graduation, she moved to New York.
Ruth worked in numerous odd jobs until she found a job that she was passionate about. Ruth was a kind and loving woman that loved children. She took pride in her work as a School Crossing Guard for the 44th Precinct. She worked for the 44th Precinct for 15 years until she retired.
Ruth was also a wife and loving mother. She met and married the late David Jones. Together they shared four children.
Later on, Ruth became ill and resided in a few nursing homes. She resided at the Wayne Nursing Home until her health began to fail.
Ruth was a fighter. She fought long and hard until she departed this life on December 5, 2013.
She is survived by: four children, Evelyn Jones, Linda Kendall, Ruthine Kendall, and Joseph Grady; three grandchildren, Natoya Jones, Jessica Washington, and Maurice Kendall; two sisters, Gladys Stewart and Lillian Guinyard; one brother-in-law, James Stewart; and a host of nieces, nephews, sons-in-law, and other family members.
