Rosanna Edwards was born August 9, 1934 to the late John D Edwards and the late Mae Ellie Gae in Laurenburg, North Carolina. Rosanna was called home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2022. She graduated from Laurenburg Institute High School where she excelled in her studies. After graduation she relocated to Westchester, New York where she began employment as a Nurse's Aide at Bellevue Hospital which was perfect for her commitment to her craft of caring and nurturing spirit. Rosanna was a proud mother of four ,Brenda, Ella, Ronald and Albert. . She was a mother figure to many others who she loved and considered as her own. She was a kind soul who always gave of herself unconditionally, however she wouldn't hesitate to call you out if deemed necessary. In the late 60's she became an ordained minister who fellowship and witnessed about the Lord Jesus Christ. She encouraged people to come to the Lord. In the seventies, Rosanna became a correction officer at Bedford Hills Correctional facility for women. She was a mentor and took on a motherly role to the inmates until an untimely back injury occurred while she was rescuing inmates during a fire at the facility. Although she could no longer work in that capacity, she continued to provide a listening ear and offer sound advice to some of the inmates, eventually becoming life long friends with a few of them. In the early 90's Rosanna and her husband James Spann founded True Gospel and Christ Temple Church in the Bronx, N.Y. After Sunday service she would often go to hospice care and pray for the sick. In her leisure time Rosanna enjoyed gardening, spending quality time with family and praising the Lord. She loved to surround herself with family, friends and especially her great grand babies who affectionately call her "Nana" Rev. Rosanna Herbert Spann is preceded in death by her husband James Spann, her son Ronald Edwards, her daughter Ella Edwards Simon and her Brother Johnnie Edwards. Rosanna leaves to cherish her loving memories daughter Brenda Edwards, son Albert Edwards, Grandchildren: Lashawn Jackson, Marvin Cooke, Shamme Simon, Temika Simon, Rondell Simon, Rosa Ortiz, Veronica Blocker, Alrese Edwards, Shanique Edwards, Briana Chambliss, Raven Hospie, Landon Simon, Mason Edwards sister Eloise Bonner, Brother Roy Little, Sister in Law, Shirley Edwards and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will love her always.
