Queen Isabell Williams was born on July 28, 1938 to the late Andrew Jack and Queen Elizabeth Rainey in Kenbridge, Lunenburg County, VA. She was baptized in New Grove Baptist Church in Kenbridge, VA.
She graduated from the prestigious James S. Russell High School in Lawrenceville, VA.
In the late 1960's, she and her three young children relocated to Manhattan, NY from her hometown.
Ms Queen I. Willliams reared her three children, Iris, Owen and Dwight, with a strong foundation in faith and Christ. As a single mom, she always kept God and faith most prevalent in all of their lives.
Shortly after relocating to New York, she joined Second Canaan Baptist Church with Christian Experience under the late Rev. John B. Ladson. She gracefully stood as a long time serving Church member until her last days here on earth. She was a member of the Senior Choir where she would routinely grace the church with her voice on Sunday mornings. Her joyous highlights were attending Bible Study and Sunday School. She received numerous certificates including: Sunday School Attendance Certificate, Completion of Vacation Bible School Certificate, and an Award for Recognition for Seeking Christian Education.
Queen Williams had a modest and resolute personality. She was the most intelligent, disciplined, intuitive, dedicated, earnest, hardworking, professional, loving, respectful, Godly, and peaceful human being you could ever know.
She liked to travel with her sisters and participate in Christian activities. functions, and projects.
She was a well loved member of her New York City Housing Authority Senior Citizen Center. She received multiple awards for her participation as a Senior Floor Captain and other Service Volunteer duties. She enjoyed and participated in lots of historical trips and brunches with her beloved Senior Center friends.
Aside from a great social life with her family and friends, Ms. Queen Williams led a long standing career as a dedicated Civil Service Employee for over 25 years. She served in the office of Purchasing Management Division for the Board of Education, retiring gracefully in 2002.
She enjoyed her time by being a great grandmother, relaxing, attending church, watching her favorite baseball teams and game shows on television with her loved ones and cherished friends.
Mom, Grandma, great grandma, Auntie, Sister and friend, Queen leaves behind to cherish fond memories: three children, Iris R. Hill (Benjamin), Owen B. Williams (Papricia), and Dwight A. Williams; eight grandchildren, Rachell, Serena, Drew, Shatima, LaShawn, Malkika, Jamil and Tiffanie; seven great grandchildren, Romelio, D'Angello, Juliet, Sierra, Aniyah, Aliyah, and Oliva; three sisters, Mary Harris (David), Naomi Hill, and Virginia Favors; one brother, Fred Rainey (Lena); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
