Pamela Jordan was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on June 30, 1954, to her parents, Joseph Jordan and Mary Lee Johnson. Pamela grew up in Harlem and attended Charles Evan Hughes High School. She furthered her education at Medgar Evers College in 1976, where she studied Education and Psychology. After receiving her bachelor's degree, she worked for Human Resources Administration in 1983. Pamela moved to Virginia in 1986 and began working as an accountant for the military. In 1987, Pamela moved back to New York City to care for her mother that was ill at the time. While working as a teacher at BCL Early Learning Childcare Center, she attended Long Island University where she obtained her master's degree. In 1994, Pamela opened her own childcare business in her home, PJS Day Care. She retired in 1997 and closed her daycare. She loved the Lord, and she loved life. She had a loving heart and a caring spirit. Her legacy does not include anything of monetary worth but does add something far more valuable, which is wisdom, love, and respect for oneself and others. She loved to cook, and she took special pride in her delicious sweet potato pie. On Tuesday evening, January 14, 2020, Pamela departed from this life to begin her transition. She leaves behind to mourn her passing and cherish fond memories: three sisters, Carolyn Polite (Atlanta), Mary Jordan (Florida), and Norma Vargas (Virginia); one brother, Matthew Brown (Brooklyn, NY); special friend, Mary Swinson (New York); and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and friends.
