Norma Dean was born to Josephine White and Aggie Rucker on March 21, 1933 in Savannah, Georgia. She was later legally adopted and raised by Mr. and Mrs. Andrew and Delphine Hendrix. Soon after, the family relocated to New York City, where Norma recieved her formal education. Norma had a flair for style and beauty. She became a licensed cosmetologist, millinery, seamstress, and Avon representative for more than fifty years. Norma's outer beauty was overshadowed by her spiritual beauty. As a member of The United House of Prayer For All People from birth, she was baptized and received the Holy Ghost. She served on various auxillaries. Her favorite was being the Mother of the Young Adult Queens of New York City Mother House until her failing health no longer allowed. Norma departed this earthly life on January 16, 2014, 11:10 am at Albert Einstein Hospital. Norma was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish fond memories: two sons, Robert Lewis (Savannah, GA) and Anthony Lewis (Elizabeth) (Brooklyn, NY); three daughters, Alicia Scott (Brooklyn, NY), Vanita Hoover (Caregiver) (Bronx, NY), and Patricia Dale Williams (Bronx, NY); eight grandchildren, Charles (Carmen), Anthony Jr., Tiffany, Sherese, Joseph, young Vanita, Gerald and Traci; eight great grandchildren; God Mommy, Saint Catherine Campbell; her sister, Shirley Winston (Lanett, AL); her brother, Marion Ralph Grant (Savannah, GA); special family members, Ronnie, Levon, Tammie, and Penny; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
