Neforis Altagracia Martinez, known to her family and friends as "Nefi", age 60, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2020, at ArchCare at Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center in New York City. She was born August 10, 1959 in the Dominican Republic. Prior to being placed at the Nursing Home, Nefi was a dedicated and kind daughter and sister to us. She cared for my mother throughout her illness, my brother Joe in his fight with alcoholism and my younger sister Dorka whom she loved dearly. She opened her home to family and friends with open arms and displayed a level of humility worth noting here today. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness congregation and went to services for more than 15 years. Throughout her numerous hospitalizations, she fought to get better. Time and time again, she regained the strength to live one more day. Her smile was infectious and her courage to remain humble admirable. She is survived by: her father, Valentin Martinez; siblings, Jose Arsenio (Joe), Ana (Morena), Ana (China/Mellisa), Melvin and Erika; nieces, Aryana, Stacy Marie, Ana Michelle and Kelly Elena; nephews, Michael, Isaiah, and Sony; and a host of cousins and friends.
