Obituary

Nathaniel Austin, affectionately known as Nat, was born on February 1, 1929 in Milledgeville, Georgia to the late Reverend Augustus Austin Sr. and Mamie Austin. He attended school in Milledgeville, Georgia and was raised up in the Shiloh Baptist Church also located in Milledgeville. In 1947, Nathaniel moved to New York City with his wife the late Ernestine Austin and his son Ernest Austin where they continued on to grow their family and lives. Nat was employed by Farberware, Amtrak and later furthered his career at The Port Authority of NY & NJ as a skycap at Kennedy Airport from which he retired. Nat accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He joined the Macedonia Baptist Church in New York City where his sister Lucy Bruce attended. He later joined the Greater Calvary Baptist Church also in NYC where his friend Audrey Sutton attended. Nathaniel "Nat" Austin was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, his wife, Ernestine Austin, his two sons Ronald and Steve, his daughter Carol Natalie Austin and a grandson Ribat Austin. Nathaniel's life will forever be cherished by those that he left behind: three sons, Ernest (Lois), David (Mercedes), Michael Glen Austin; twenty five grandchildren; a number of great and great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nathaniel also leaves to cherish fond memories: his special and devoted friend Audrey Sutton, and the "Sutton" family whom God allowed a place in his life.
