Martha E. Younger was born July 7, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Rogers and Helen Nisky. At the age of five she relocated to New York City with her family. She received her education at P.S. 89, P.S. 139, Wadleigh J.H.S.and Textile High School. After graduation, she worked and retired from the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Martha was married to the late James Edison Harvey and after the dissolution of this marriage, she married the late Edward C. Younger. There were no children born to either of these unions. She was a faithful member of the Siloam Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn, NY until she was no longer able to serve. Martha departed this life on January 29, 2014 at the Isabella Geriatric Center, New York, NY. She leaves to cherish fond memories: a devoted brother-in-law, Carl E. Younger (whom she loved as a brother); loving cousins, Barbara Bowland (whom she loved as a daughter), Sandra Bowland, Archie Bowland, Elizabeth Butler and DeBorah Pryor-DeLeon (Kahil); nephews, John W. Purcell (Mitzi) and Fred Peebles; a grandnephew, John W. Purcell, III; a grandniece, Kathleen Archibald; her friends and neighbors at 333 Lafayette Street, Brooklyn, NY; and a host of friends and loved ones.
