Leroy Moses was born on June 1, 1949 to the late James and Dora Lee Moses at Harlem Hospital, New York, NY. Leroy grew up on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan and received his education graduating from Julia Richman High School. Leroy furthered his education majoring in accounting and earned his Degree in Business from Monroe College. Leroy's interest in accounting later lead him to be employed with several accountant firms in New York City.
As a young man, Leroy grew up in a Christian home and converted to the Catholic faith attending St. Francis DeSalle Cathedral. Leroy met and married the love of his life, Jennine, and started a family of his own. From this union, Leroy and Jennine gave birth to their son Richard Moses where they lived in Queens, NY.
Leroy, affectionately known as a Lee, a private, quiet fellow, who lived his life comfortably and self-dependent. Leroy had a passion for Aqueduct Horse Racing and strategizing horse racing wins. Leroy enjoyed reading, listening to oldies, and talking about life experiences from the good old days growing up on 97th Street. Leroy would often remind his family to bring him a "cold one" when visiting while he watched old 70's game shows with his two flip phones beside him awaiting a call from his sisters. Yet, a mumble would follow that they were interrupting his TV time whenever they called. He later complained that he didn't hear from them when they didn't call as scheduled. Leroy also had his own style of fashion. His presentation to dress in slacks and a collared shirt was his uniform even on days just to run errands. He always had kept a neat appearance. Leading to Leroy's last days, he upheld his standards to make sure he was dressed sharp in his transition.
On Sunday, August 15, 2021, Leroy was called home after battling a terminal illness. Leroy was preceded in death by his wife, Jennine; three brothers,Albertus Moses, Johnny Lee Dowell Moses, and Roger Moses; three sisters, Emma Jones, Betty Jean Moses and Arlene Pickett; and two brothers-in-law, Robert McNeal and Dennis Sabbs.
Leroy leaves to mourn and cherish fond memories: his son, Richard Moses; a daughter; two grandsons from Orlando, Fl; three sisters, Pastor Helen McNeal NY, Jacqueline Sumpter (Norman) CA, Geraldine Moses-Sabbs; one aunt, Marie Collins (NY); and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
