Lavern Sanders White was born in Birmingham, AL to the late Ruthie and James Sanders; then moved to Bronx, NY. She grew up in the Bathgate neighborhood while continuing her growth, and confessed to Christ at an early age at Reach Out Baptist Church.
Lavern started her journey attending Aquanis High School and furthering her education which she obtained her Bachelors Degree at The College of New Rochelle in 2004. She set out to find her pearl in the oyster of a world to fulfill the promise of the chapters yet to be written in her life.
She started by working with Bronx Human Resources Administration as a Case Manager. Lavern had numerous experiences in different fields, but decided to start her own business by opening day cares and summer youth programs throughout the Bronx. Lavern had a heart of gold, cared, and fought for anyone she encountered.
Lavern was a faithful, loving and outstanding mother to her three children, Shauntae, Patrick, and Patrice Sanders whom she always made sure they had it all. She was a caring friend, a one of a kind Diva, an outgoing person and the life of every party. If you needed advice or help, Lavern was the one you could call and count on to be there for you anytime, day or night. She opened her doors to all, and later added three additions to the family - Safiyah Horton, Alicia Horton and Xavier Williams. In 2012, Lavern met Dwayne White in Jersey City, NJ and they married in 2015.
Lavern Sanders White departed this life on Friday, June 10, 2022 in Florida with family by her side.
Lavern's selfless, spontaneous, independent, hilarious, and beautiful soul will be deeply missed mostly by those left to cherish her memories. She leaves these memories with her husband Dwayne White (Cape Coral, FL); three children, Shauntae Sanders (Atlanta, GA), Patrick Sanders (Bronx, NY), Patrice Sanders (Bronx, NY), and three additional children; Safiyah Horton, Alicia Horton, and Xavier Williams (Cape Coral, FL); five granchildren, Jontae Sanders, Janiyah Sanders, Zalayah McIntosh, Zavion McIntosh and Triston Mcintosh; two step children, Darius and Dezeray White; three sisters, Marilyn Deriso, Kia Wilson, (Jersey City, NJ); a sister, Senta Peaches Bristow (Phoenix, AZ) from the late James Sanders; one godson, Corey Wilson (Jersey City, NJ); one nephew, LaDarrion Perry (Birminham, AL); a godmother, a Margaret (Criket) Wilson (Jersey City, NJ) and host of extended family and friends.
