Obituary

Julia Ann Johnson was born to the late Geneva Johnson (Smith) and James (Jimmy) A. Johnson Jr. on September 21, 1966, in the city of Newark, New Jersey. She received her education at Central High School in Newark and proceeded to finish at Touro College in New York City, New York. As a young woman, she met and later married her husband Keith Marshall, and together they shared three beautiful daughters, Shawntay, Tanesha and Keionnie. Julia was a very loving and fun filled person. She brought life to many people when in the same room. Julia loved to sing, dance, and draw. Her favorite song was "Groove Me" by King Floyd. Even when faced with adversity, she always found a way never to let it get her down. Her motto was, "Put the H on your back and handle it," as well as "Keep it pushing." She touched so many in her time on earth and loved unconditionally. Preceding her in death, her mother Geneva Johnson and her father James (Jimmy) A. Johnson Jr., her grandmother Charlie Smith, great-grandmother Janie Smith, great aunt, and uncle Rossie and John Hall. Three brothers, Henry Terrance Morton and James (Jimmy) Jr. III and daughter Crystal Jones. Julia Ann Marshall entered eternal sleep on February 1, 2020, at Mount Sinai Hospital with her three devoted daughters and husband at her side. Julia leaves behind to carry on her memory: her husband Keith Marshall; daughters, Shawntay Johnson, Tanesha Legagneur, and Keionnie Johnson-Marhsall; her sisters, Tracey Smith, Janie Johnson, Patricia Morton (Boo-Boo), Lisa Johnson; her brother Malcom Johnson; stepmother Mary Johnson. Julia's three grandsons, George Jackson, Castiel and Theodore Jones; granddaughter Lyric King; four nephews, Abdullah and Taleek Smith, Tony Morton and Donte George; seven nieces, Nakia and Genee Johnson, Asia, Shakirah and Latisha Barron, Lataisha and Lakesha Morton; two great nieces, Precious and Cristal Williams; great nephews, Damien and Elijah Smith; aunts, Lillian Washington, Lillian Barrett and a host of family and close friends that are too many to list.
