Joseph C. Fisher Jr., a devoted family man, decorated public servant, and pillar of strength, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a profound legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength.

Born on December 18, 1947, in Wewahitchka, Florida, Joe, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was the son of the late Joseph C. Fisher Sr. and Margaret Anderson Fisher. As the second oldest child and the oldest son in the Fisher household, Joseph learned the values of responsibility and family loyalty at an early age.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents; his eldest sister, Julia Mae "Jewels" Fisher; and his younger brother, Jerry Fisher. His memory and the family bond live on through his surviving brothers, Charles Fisher of Port St. Joe, Florida, and Thaddeus Fisher of New York City.

After graduating from high school in his beloved hometown, Joe felt the pull of new horizons. In 1968, he ventured north to New York City—a move that would define the trajectory of his life.

In 1970, he joined the ranks of New York's Finest, embarking on a distinguished career with the New York City Police Department in Manhattan. For more than 45 years, Joe served the city with unwavering dedication and honor. His career was marked by numerous awards, commendations, and the deep respect of his peers, standing as a testament to his commitment to protecting and serving others.

In 1972, Joe's life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Ora Lee McMillion. Together, they built a beautiful life that spanned more than 50 years. Their journey was rich with shared memories, many trips, countless laughs, deep love, many firsts, and many lasts. Along the way, they celebrated many milestones, including the graduations and accomplishments of each of their children.

Through their enduring union, they were blessed with a large and vibrant family. Joseph leaves behind his devoted wife, Ora Lee; their six children, Tracey, Maurice, Saudah, Syciee, Asisha, and Michael; and Tara from a previous relationship. He was the proud grandfather of 15 grandchildren and the doting great-grandfather of five great-grandchildren. His legacy also lives on through a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and one special godson.

If you knew Joe, you knew he wasn't a loud or boisterous man. But make no mistake—he wasn't soft-spoken either. He was a man of steady grace, remaining even-keeled most of the time. He carried himself with a quiet dignity that commanded respect.

However, beneath that calm demeanor lay a fiercely protective heart. If you crossed him—or worse, if you messed with his family—the boxing gloves came on, and the gloves came off. He defended his loved ones with unforgettable, unyielding strength, a trait known and respected by everyone who truly knew and loved him.

Joseph C. Fisher Jr. lived a full, honorable, and impactful life. He will be deeply missed, but his steady spirit, laughter, unwavering dedication, and protective love will remain forever in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him.
