Daniel
Oct 29, 1957 — May 1, 2023
Joseph Hezekiah Daniel (affectionately called Heze, aka, Kiah Man) entered eternal peace on May 1, 2023, in New York City. Heze was born on October 29,1957 in St. Johnson's Village and raised in Trafalgar Village in St. Kitts. Heze has now gone on to meet his parents, Mary Albetha Daniel and Thomas Richard.
Heze completed his education in St. Kitts. He was highly intelligent, articulate, and loved to read and research different information. He would also listen to various media reports and was able to discuss many topics with deep knowledge and confidence. At an early age, he was industrious and had a zest for being an entrepreneur, until he became his own boss. He started working together with his brother, Sil, being creative in making brooms and sold them all over St. Kitts. When his brother migrated out of St. Kitts, Heze continued the business. The brother's effort contributed financially to the family and helped their mother, Mary. Heze also became a gardener, an herbalist, and a landscaper. He had great knowledge of various herbs and plants used for various ailments and healthy living, and he shared his knowledge freely with others.
Heze became a Rasta in his early years and was involved with Rastafarianism. He grew beautiful locks on his head, and at one point his locks were the length of his knees. He was 6" 5', lanky, dark and handsome, so his locks were a sight to behold. Heze's hair was very sacred to him, and you could not try to touch or cut his hair without a fight from him. That was a no, no.
Heze loved to sing and had a good voice. He loved to dance and entered competitions, where he won the Village Rama a few times in St. Kitts. Because of his love for music, Heze even attended a James Brown concert in St. Martin with his brother Sil, which he constantly spoke about with joy.
Heze would instruct the family and the young kids in the village with his dance movements. He would take over the dance floor at parties, and everyone would move and give him the center ring to do his performance. He loved music and played many genres, especially conscience reggae music, and later in life gospel music. He shared his love for music with his family and friends. Heze loved to exercise and stayed fit. He rode his bike all over and walked a lot. Heze was very health conscious. A great chef and cooked delicious ital and healthy foods, which he shared with his family and friends. Many people would visit him just to eat his food.
Heze was very funny and a real comedian. He loved to tell jokes and tease his family and friends. He had such an infectious laugh, that he made you laugh right alone with him. He was a people's person and was truly kind and generous. He could also be stubborn and outspoken too and would let you know how he felt about a situation.
Heze migrated to New York in the 1990's and lived there for a few years. He returned to his beloved St. Kitts, and would make trips back periodically to New York, to visit his family. Heze siblings are Hyacinth (Chicksey – deceased), Fonso (Morgan) and his wife, Sharon, Silcard (Sil) and his wife, Dorita, Viola (Vie), Clayton (Wilson) and his wife, Marlyn, Patricia (Patsy) and her husband, Patrick, Derick (Dicky), Eugene and his wife Alyssia, Mary and her husband, Rudolph, Joycelyn and Edmund. Heze also has 24 nieces, 19 Nephews, 24 great grand-nieces,18 great grand nephews, 1 great great-grand niece, 4 great great-grand nephews, 1 nephew in law and 1 niece in law. Heze also leaves other family members and friends in St. Kitts and abroad.
Heze's faith in God was strong and he lived a courageous life. He fought the good fight and was at peace. His light will continue to shine and guide us near or far, over rivers and oceans, in heaven or on earth. Heze was loved dearly by his family and friends, who will continue to cherish and continue his legacy. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Heze until we meet again!
