Obituary

So what can we say about Jannie Bell McGoogan 73, born Jannie Bell Aaron to the late Flossie Robinson and Willie Aaron on May 15, 1947 in Bowman, S.C. She was one of six children, Ida Mae Aaron, Willie Aaron Jr., Jannie Bell Aaron, Mary Aaron, Hyacinth Aaron and Thurmond Franklin Aaron. Jannie Bell received her education in South Carolina and graduated from Bethune Memorial High School. She later moved to the Bronx, N.Y. in 1965, and lived with her eldest sister Ida Mae Aaron. Jannie Bell began a career as a Nurse's Aide at Jacobi Hospital. She later met the love of her life Dale J. McGoogan, whom she playfully nicknamed "Boo". He would pursue her and mack to her until she said yes to his hand in marriage. They were married on January 23, 1972, over 49 years ago and from their union Dietra Anita McGoogan and Monique McGoogan was born. Jannie atteneded Green Pastures Baptist Church in the Bronx, N.Y. with her family. Her husband received an unction from the Lord to join Salvation and Deliverance Church, Bronx, N.Y. and there is where Sister Jannie McGoogan, already saved, became filled with the Holy ghost. Evangelist McGoogan under the leadership of then Bishop Louis Bligen was ordained to preach the gospel after much prayer and faithful service, especially to her choir. She and her husband started a home daycare center that promoted the whole child both spiritually and naturally. She would prepare awesome meals for the children while her husband anointed each child that came into their home. Mrs. Jannie was her name! These daycare children became their children. Mrs. Jannie was all about family. She is known for many things, a wife, a mother, a woman of God, good ole Mrs. Jannie, a listening ear, a prayer warrior, a preacher and a teacher. She was also an excellent cook and jewelry designer. Jannie leaves to cherish her memories and continue her legacy husband, Dale J. McGoogan; daughters, Dietra A. Smith (Derrick), and Monique Sabage (Ephraim); two granddaughters, Iyana C. Hoskins (Lee) and Sitara M. Smith; one surviving sister, Mary Martin (Sylvester); one mother-in-law, Mattie Davis; five in-laws, Yishkayah Yisrael (Daniyyel), Willie McGoogan (Shirell), Ricky McGoogan, William Mack (Irene) and Pearl Lee Aaron. Jannie believed in " family" with no "step", no "in-law" or "that side over there", to Jannie it was just Family!
