Howard Campbell entered into eternal peace on January 4, 2014 at the age of 86. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia Campbell, and his brother, Robert Joseph Campbell. At an early age, Howard and his family moved to New York from Virginia where he attended the New York City Public Schools. Howard was an entertainer whose soprano voice could be heard in many supper clubs throughout Harlem. It was not unlikely for him to be in the accompaniment of the likes of the great Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, or Duke Ellington, just to name a few. Howard, who was a tailor by trade, entered into his next facet of life and managed then subsequently earned the University Avenue Cleaners. Family and friends were Howard's passion and joy. He will be remembered by his sense of humor, his beautiful kind spirit, and his generosity in all aspects of his life. Howard leaves to cherish fond memories: two nieces, Carolyn Paul and Zarita Hollness; two nephews, Bruce and Robert Campbell; and a host of additional relatives and friends.
