Herbert Grant Jr. (Herb) was born in New York City to his proud parents, Herbert Sr. and Almeta Grant on September 24, 1957. He was the first of three children.
Herb graduated from Samuel Gompers High School. Upon graduation, he attended TCI Technical College where he obtained a degree in television.
He met and married Jarmaine Gold. This union was blessed with two children, Benjamin Grant of Camden, South Carolina and Rosalie Grant, who proceded him in death in Camden, South Carolina. Jarmaine and Herb realized that they were heading in different directions and agreed to divorce and co-parent.
Herb worked for the New York City Housing Authority for over 30 years until he took ill in 2011. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing the drums, bowling, playing and watching sports.
He leaves to mourn and cherish fond memories: his loving parents, Herbert Sr. and Almeta Grant; brother, Kenneth (Sandra Marie) Grant; sister, Lisa Grant (Alfred) Lynch; his loving son, Benjamin Grant; three grandchildren, Jazmaine, Tai and Savannah Grant; devoted aunts and uncles, Mary Estelle Stevens, Freeman Favors II, Bertha Lois Lumpkin, and Ricky Lumpkin; caring nieces and nephew, Jumica Gold, Jordan Grant, Jelisa Grant, and Marcela Lynch; god sister, Sarah Burse; and a host of dear cousins, other relatives and friends.
Herb will be dearly missed!
