Minister Hattie Mae Coley was the first born of the late Garfield and Lizzie Forte. She was born in Wayne County, North Carolina where she was raised in a loving and Christian home and attended school.
She met and married John Coley. Although no children were born from this union, she held her nieces and nephews dear to her heart.
Sometime later, she relocated to New York and started a career with a professional cleaning company until her retirement in 1989.
Minister Coley during the early years was known as "Sister Hattie". Her smile was contagious. She was a faithful member of Gospel of Light Deliverance Center. Minister Coley would often be found in prayer services with her prayer partners Minister Green and Evangelist Whitty. Attending the general assembly in Savannah, GA brought great joy to Minister Coley. She had so much love for her Overseer Hilda Rolle, Apostle Jackson and Bishop Redman. Later in ministry, she served faithfully in different capacities under the pastoral leadership of her Sister Pastor Addie Lee Love at First Born True Holiness Church. Minister Coley left a great legacy. She loved God, people, and fellowshipped wherever she traveled. She will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.
Minister Hattie Mae Coley departed this life March 14, 2021. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lila Bell and Addie Lee Love; and one brother, George Garfield Forte.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: two brothers, J.B. (Lillian) Forte and Johnny Prince Forte of North Carolina; a dear nephew, Sherrod Love (who adored and cared for her); eighteen nieces and nephews; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
