Obituary

Hallie McClary Sr. was born to Hattie Durant McClary and Carlisle McClary on September 23, 1934, in Maysville, South Carolina. He transitioned on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Mount Sinai Hospital. Hallie obtained his education in the South Carolina school system and attended Maysville Institute. He later migrated to New York City and began a great legacy.

Hallie was good with his hands and found love in being a car mechanic. He also had a love of food, and some of his favorites were fried okra with corn and tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad. Hallie left a lasting impression on everyone with whom he came in contact. He was resilient and free-spirited, and he never complained. He always used to say, "God is in charge, so no need to complain". Hallie best lived his life by the words of Frank Sinatra, "I DID IT MY WAY!" He will live in our hearts forever.

He leaves to cherish loving memories: nine children, Evangelist Ada Mckenzie VA, Bertha Solomon, Lucilla Solomon, Hallie McClary Jr., Vanessa McClary, Carl Bradley, Veronica Bradley, Vanessa Bradley, and Ira Jamal Stamps, all of NY; two brothers, Walter McClary, NY and Silas (Mildred) Washington, SC; one sister, Josephine Lay, GA: one brother-in-law, Paul Clowden, SC; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
