Obituary

Flexton Young, Jr. (Poppi), was born on July 17, 1962, in New York City to Julia and Flexton Young, Sr. Flexton, was the oldest of four children. Flexton, known as "Flex", attended and graduated from Martin Luther king High School. He was talented and worked in different fields, as some would say that he was a "Jack of All Trades", working as a contractor, a super, doing security and other trades. He was not afraid of hard work always willing to lend a hand when needed. Flex was blessed when he was reunited with a lifelong friend and Love of his life Lashuna Hill, (Mona) in 2002 and he and Mona would go on to be married in March of 2003 and would remain happily married for 20 years until his passing. He was a loving husband and father and he enjoyed spending time with his daughter Vangilee (Vangi), whom he loved dearly. He and Vangi were very close, watching her grow from a very young age, Flex was proud of her and never ceased to share that fact with family and friends. Flex's life was greatly impacted in 2010 when he decided to take the step to join his wife Mona and become a member of her childhood church The Spiritual Israel Church and its Army, Flex, was a proud member and would often invite friends and people he was acquainted with to the services where he proudly joined and served on the Deacon Board. Deacon Flex exhibited such a love for the God of Israel, even when he was faced with his medical challenges and illness, you could feel his passion whenever he spoke or testified of the greatness and the God of Israel's presence in his life. Many times, he would say "My Father", when referring to the God of Israel with such passion and conviction and he would never miss an opportunity to say, "I Rise to Give Honor to the Holy Father the King of Israel". Flex would not just serve with lip service; he volunteered his time and experience working and helping to maintain the church and building wherever needed. He never hesitated when called upon to give his time to serve his church and his pastors. Flex was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. On Friday, May 27th, Flex departed this phase of his life. He will be missed dearly. Flex, is preceded by his mother Julia and Father Flexton, Young, Sr. brother Anthony Young. Mother-in-Law Rev.
