Edith Ramos-Medina, also known as "Santi", was born September 16, 1942 on the island of "Rio Tinto" in Central America. She was the daughter of the late Ciriaco Ramos (Belize) and late Apolinaria Solano Ramos (Honduras) of the thirteen children and fraternal twins they had together.
In 1963, Edith "Santi" Ramos Medina migrated to the United States and moved to New York City. Edith met her late husband Eulogio Medina and on September 30, 1966 they were married. From this beautiful union, they were blessed with five children: Ursula (Suly) Medina (deceased), Edith (Janet) Medina, Yvette Medina, Belinda (Bella) Medina and only son Jimmy (Justice)Medina.
In 1979, Edith became a United States citizen. She enrolled and attended Touro College part time. She worked several jobs as a certified nurse assistant (CNA), Housekeeper, Home Attendant and Home Health Aide. In 2000, Edith retired and was a retiree union member from Local 32BJ and 1199 SEIU. Edith was a very active member of Corsi Senior Center, Jefferson Senior Center and Casave Senior Center in East Harlem.
Edith "Santi" Ramos Medina departed this life on the morning of May 22, 2020, after a brief and sudden illness. Our Mom is free from sickness and pain. The families and friends of Edith "Santi" Ramos Medina will truly miss her especially for her beautiful smile, always helpful, telling jokes and just loving her children and grandchildren unconditionally.
She has gone on to join her parents, Ciriaco Ramos and Apolinaria Solano Ramos; husband, Eulogio Medina; daughter, Ursula (Suly) Medina; sisters and brothers: Perajedes Solano-Ramos, Félix Solano-Ramos, Alfonsa Solano-Ramos, Gilberto Solano-Ramos, and Andrés (Andu) Solano -Ramos,
Our beloved Edith Santi Ramos-Medina leaves behind: her beautiful children: Edith (Janet) Medina, Yvette Medina, Belinda (Bella) Medina, and only son Jimmy (Justice) Medina; her beautiful grandchildren: Kayla (Nunu), Jorge (Alonzo), Tytiana, Shequira (Kira), Thalia, Sharmae (May May), Tyvon, Jaelyn, and Myisha; and great granddaughter Suly K'lani; her brothers and sisters: Gerónimo Solano-Ramos, Unventio (Benchito) Solano-Ramos, Carlos Ramos, Rogelia (Canda) Solano-Ramos (Edith's twin-sister), and Herlinda Solano-Ramos, and Tomas Solano-Ramos; and a host of family and friends.
Edith "Santi" Ramos Medina will truly be missed for the loving and special person she was by a host of extended loving families and friends especially from the Corsi Senior Center, Jefferson Housing, Jefferson Housing Senior Center, Casave Senior Center, Atlantic City Casino, Empire City Casino, Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwood Casino.
