This is My Story Lady Dorine Cook, entered this world as Dorine Whitehead on October 29, 1921, the youngest of three children born in Barbados, British West Indies, to Charles and Maude Whitehead. Lady Cook received her early education at the St. Charles Parochial School, in Harlem New York. A licensed Evangelist and ordained minister, she completed formal religious instruction at the Manhattan Bible School, and Baptist Educational Center. Lady Cook was married to the late Reverend Ernest Cook, Pastor of Paradise Baptist Church. They were married for six years, until his untimely death in 1974. Devoting herself to ministry, she never remarried. Lady Cook found great joy in sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Her life was a true testament of the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her great love of the Word of God found her very active in ministry. After her husband's passing, Lady Cook became a member of the Second Canaan Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend John P. Ladson. She was a faithful servant to this ministry where she served as a Missionary, Deaconess, Nurse, Teacher and instructor of Religious and Spiritual Protocol for over forty years. Outside of her local church membership, Lady Cook served as an active member and officer in numerous organizations including, but not limited to, the American Red Cross, the United Missionary Baptist Association, Ministers Wives and Widows Auxiliary, Empire Missionary Baptist Convention, and many more. By profession, Lady Cook was a highly skilled and in-demand seamstress serving the needs of Harlem churches, choirs, clergy, and parishioners, along with individuals from near and far. She received her professional training at the National School of Dress Desiging of Chicago. She was also an in-demand fashion model trained by the Dorothea Towles School of Charm and Modeling. While Lady Cook's transition brings much sorrow and pain to our hearts, we rejoice in knowing she lived a long and fulfilling virtuous life. She touched many lives during her visit with us, and on December 26, 2020, the Father saw fit to call her home for some much-needed rest. No longer will she face the challenges of the earthly body, as she is now rejoicing with her maker void of sickness, pain and earthly ills. Preceded in death by her late husband Reverend Ernest Cook; her best-friend and lovng sister, Marjorie Liverpool; and dear niece, Joan Deidre Liverpool, Lady Cook leaves to cherish her memory, one charismatic and loving niece, Cassandra Dorine Rufat; her ever-loving nephew, Michael Israel Liverpool; three grand nephews, Anthony Rufat, Algernon Rufat, and Amin Drinks; a very special extended family member, Annie Haight; her Second Canaan Baptist Church family; and a host of loving friends.
