Dolores "Dee" Sambogna was born in Hoboken NJ to Rose Sambogna and Clyde Thomas on June 5, 1947. She was placed in the loving arms of Ethel "Ma" Williams of West 127th St. New York City in 1948. Dee and her mother Madean Reams continued to reside a couple floors below Ma Williams beginning in 1957. Dee had a very happy childhood being guided, influenced, and loved by these two incredible women and her father Clyde. She along with many of her friends and two cousins Veronica and Darlene Blue enjoyed making wonderful memories while growing up in Harlem during this time. In 1972, Dee met her beloved friend Willa "Cookie" Holbrook. They shared over 40 years of friendship, love, and happiness together. In the 1970's Dee moved to Philadelphia working in the food industry. In 1996, Dee moved back to New York City to be with her mother Madean who passed away on December 27th 2000. Since she was a little girl God played an important role in Dee's life. In 1996, she converted to Catholicism and joined the All Saints Episcopal family. Recently, Dee became a parishioner at St Mark's Evangelist Church. In 2004, Dee began work at Whole Food Stores on 57th St. in Manhattan. She continued working there until her retirement in September 2017. On May 27, 2010, Dee was united with her sister Kathy Vukusich daughter of Rose Sambogna. She gracefully embraced her new found family which included siblings Myra, Joseph, David, nephew Nicholas and niece Jillian Rose. On November 16, 2017 Dee passed away peacefully at the home she grew up in. She joins in heaven Ethel "Ma"Williams, parents Clyde Thomas and Rose Sambogna Vukusich, mother Madean Reams, and nephew Nicholas Vukusich. She leaves behind sisters Myra Sabel, Kathy Vukusich, brothers Joseph and David Vukusich, nephew Wesley Richards, and nieces Jillian Vukusich, Dietra Richards, Kadetra Morris, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. In life, Dee shared her beautiful smile and infectious spirit for life and God with all. She touched the lives of everyone she met. With her passing, we will hold her memory in our hearts forever!
