Constance V.
Willie
Mar 20, 1934 — Nov 2, 2022
Constance Virginia Willie (better known as Nanny or Connie to her friends) was born in Newark, New Jersey, to her proud parents, the late Andrew Rumble and Catherine Randolph, on March 20, 1934. Constance was an only child. Constance's mother, the late Catherine, met the late Cecil Willie in the early '40s, and soon after, they pronounced their love and became one heart. Cecil then adopted Constance, and Constance then carried Cecil's last name, Willie. Constance Willie met Willie Thomas, and this union was blessed with two children, the late Andre Willie, and the late Candance Belton.
Constance was a down-to-earth person who spoke her mind and was never shy of her words. Those who knew Constance (Nanny) know this to be true. Constance loved to cook for her loved ones. Constance's cooking was a symbol of her love. Constance had serval occupations; she managed a bar, a hotel, and a few family-owned businesses for many years. Later in life, Constance took a slower pace occupation where she was a Home Attendant. She took pride in caring for those who could not care for themselves. Then Constance took on another role and became her two granddaughter's legal guardians once their mother was called home to glory. Constance was a selfless person, and her giving was proof of that. Constance was always willing and available to step in whenever her family needed her to. Constance, our Nanny, was the true definition of A Big Momma.
When Constance's grandson Elliott was called home to glory, Constance stepped in to be a backbone and help her daughter, the late Candance, and Patrena raised little Elliott and his brother Rakim. Constance was full of joy and made many memories and sacrifices. When Candance was called home to glory, Constance did not hesitate to continue to help Patrena care for little Elliott. Constance also later became Trinity's full-time caregiver while her parents worked. Constance cared for both Elliott and Trinity for many years. She once said, "they were keeping her young." Constance was always about family, whether they were extended or not. Constance knew their family's importance because she was an only child and always wished she had siblings. She never hesitated to tell you she loves you
Constance cherished all her grands, but nothing melted her heart like her great-grandchildren. Constance was surrounded by love and laughter until the end. Constance leaves behind to cherish in her memory one grandson Glenn (Kira) Belton, and two granddaughters, Nicole Johnson and Andrea (William) Kenyon. Ten great grandsons Elliott Bowen, Rakim Mosely, Glenn Belton 3rd, Elijah Dixon, Ethan Dixon, Timie Belton, Kamari Nixon, Keron Nixon Jr, William Kenyon 3rd and Phoenix Belton. The extended family of great-granddaughters Trinity Garlick, granddaughter in- law Patrena (Keith) Adams, and a host of nephews and nieces.
Constance is predeceased by her mother, Catherine Willie; father, Cecil Willie; son Andre Willie; grandson Elliott Belton; and daughter Candance Belton.
Lovingly sumitted by: The Family.
