Clarence Bland was born in Sumter, South Carolina on November 21, 1923. At a young age, his family migrated to New York City where he received his formal education. Clarence was drafted into the Army and served during the years May 18, 1943 until March 18, 1946. He later met and married the love of his life Dorothy Bland. Clarence enjoyed sneaking into the Savoy Ballroom every Thursday night with his wife, Dorothy. He also enjoyed collecting bottles as a hobby and he loved his dog Boscoe dearly. In his final years, he spent time enjoying his favorite hobby, fishing and spending time with his family. He loved to spoil his grandchildren and took pleasure in tickling them to make them laugh. Clarence departed this life on February 19, 2020 and leaves to cherish fond memories his son, Ronald Ballard; his grandchildren, Ronnett, Larhon, Ronnie Jr. and Tyrik; great grandchildren, Jalil, Tiera, Brandon, Kevin, Damani, Travis, and Treasure; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
