Christina Faith "Fay" De Vall Francis was born on May 24, 1924 in Northport, Long Island, New York. She attended public schools in Huntington, New York. After graduating from Huntington High School in 1942, she moved to Washington, DC and resided there for several years. She returned to New York and married James Francis in 1963, and the couple made their home in Brooklyn, New York. She continued to live in Brooklyn until her passing. Christina has been a faithful member of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church for almost thirty years. She served in the Seniors in Action Ministry where she showed off her talent in acting and drama at the Brooklyn Tabernacle Annual Talent Night. She also devoted her time to greeting first time visitors to the church. She served at the church Learning Center, teaching knitting to young people. Christina participated in all of the special events and attended weekly bible studies. In the community where she lived, she volunteered her service at the local Laundromat. She was friendly and supportive, to all whom she encountered. She was adopted by many people in her neighborhood who called her 'grandma', 'ma' and 'mama'. Christina passed away on June 2, 2014 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Brooklyn New York at the age of 90 years old. Fay is survived by two sisters, Marian Garris and Anna Shaw, of Huntington, New York; four nieces and two cousins. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends that she leaves behind. Christina has lived a life full of adventure and exceeded her three score and ten, and knew she has gone home to rest with her Savior. May her soul rest in peace.
