Cherie Antoinette Heyward was born May 19, 1962 to Henry and Mary Heyward in New York City. She was the oldest of two children (Cherie and Bryant Heyward).
Cherie was very intelligent with a zest for life and loved to have fun. She entered every room with her big personality. She was certainly one-of-a-kind. A beautiful person both inside and out, lively, bold and feisty.
Cherie was Baptized at Epworth Church and was also a member of Greater University Baptist Church in the Bronx. She was excited to sing in the choir. She loved to put on solo impromptu performances for family and friends.
Cherie had two children, Shaheem and Malcolm Foster, whom she raised to be well mannered and respectful young men.
Cherie attended elementary school at the renowned Modern School in Harlem. She received her High School education at John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx. Cherie was an A+ student and was able to skip a grade. She graduated from high school early and went on to attend SUNY New Paltz College.
She pursued a career in the banking industry and then spent many years working at NYC Human Resources Administration as a supervisor.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: her two children, Shaheem and Malcolm Foster; granddaughter, Noelle A. Foster; father, Henry Heyward; brother, Bryant Heyward; niece, Mali Heyward; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and good friends.
