Charles L. Bennett, son of the late Charles and Zella Vivian Bennett, was born on January 21, 1931 at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, New Jersey.
Charles, affectionately known as Chuck, received his early education at Westside High School in Newark, New Jersey. There, he graduated with an academic diploma. He continued his education at Newark College of Engineering in Newark, New Jersey. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Charles also attended Burke Trade School in Brooklyn, New York. He studied plumbing practical theory, New York City building codes, and heat plant inspection.
Later in life, Charles served in the United States Army in Fort Polk, Louisiana and Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Charles held down a multitude of jobs. He was also the "Bike Doctor" of the community. He left behind an amazing legacy.He touched many souls with his words of wisdom.
Charles departed this life on March 16, 2022 and has gone to join his brother, Thomas Bennett.
Chuck leaves behind to cherish loving memories: his wife, Kim Lowe Bennett; ten sons, Terrance, Christopher "Chris", Charles II, Charles III, Taron, Melvin, Joseph, Jaisen, Desmond, and Damien; four daughters, Erica, Kimberly, Isha and Reason; sister, Reverend Jean Marie Bennett Word; four brothers, James Melvin, Lamont, Paul, and Andre; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives were forever enriched and blessed to have come across him.
