Obituary

Cecelia Dompierre was born on August 12th, 1942, on the beautiful island of St. Croix,, US Virgin Islands to her loving parents Wilhelmina Clarke and Henry Dompierre. She was the second eldest of seven children.

There she attended Elementary through High School. After High School, Cecelia took on one of her greatest challenges of becoming a mother to her only child Jerrilyn. Being a parent made her realize that she wanted to pursue more education and start a career. In search of a better life for her and her daughter, Cecelia left the island she called home and migrated to New York City at the tender age of 19. She landed a job as a Nurse Aide with aspirations of becoming a Nurse. Due to her dislike for the sight of blood, Cecelia made the difficult decision to no longer pursue her nursing dream. Instead, she became a factory worker which to her surprise she enjoyed very much. She remained a factory worker until she retired.

In her years after retirement, Cecelia lived her life to the fullest spending her time with her close friends and family. New York became her home, which she loved dearly, and resided there until her death. Cecelia was loved unconditionally and she will be missed dearly.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her daughter, Jerrilyn Morris; granddaughter, Latne' LeCointe; grandsons, Kowasi Ashby and Shaquille Urgent; great grandson, Myles McIntosh; sisters, Helen Joseph, Louise Joseph, and Dorothy Joseph; brother, Dennis Howell; sister-in-law, Deborah Howell; Godchild, Karisha Harvey; nieces, Alma Richards, Rita Francis, Yvette Lynch, Pearlette Lynch Sheriff, Karol Lynch, Debra Rodgers, Sheryl Roberts, Leslee Howell, Monet Edwards, Jasmine Gonzales, Shakima Edwards, Marion Dompierre, and Sherry Moses; nephews, Earl Joseph, Casmore "Sonny" Warner, Dwayne Howell, Duane Howell, Dwight Howell, Vernon Edwards, Ray Edwards, Troy Edwards, Alfredo Edwards III, and Tyrone Sackey Jr.; special friends, Evelyn Harvey, Serita Harvey, Latoya Owens, Sonia Myles, Marilyn Christian, and Magnolia Williams; as well as other friends and family too numerous to mention.
