Obituary

Carlotta Singleton of Rego Park, NY, passed away unexpectedly

but peacefully on October 01, 2022, at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream

Hospital, surrounded by family.

Carlotta Louise Singleton was born on February 14, 1953, in

Roper Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina, to Josephine Garvin and

the late Charles Herbert Lee Singleton. She was the eldest of eight

children.

Carlotta worked as an Operation Center Office Administrator at

Alstom, formerly known as Bombardier Transportation, for many years.

In 2020, Carlotta retired from her position at Bombardier

Transportation.

In the early days of Carlotta's life, she liked to sew and go on

vacation with her long-time best friend Shirley, and they would visit

places such as Paris and Puerto Rico, to name a few. She enjoyed

watching Family Feud, cooking, shopping, and running errands. Carlotta

loved salsa dancing, and one of her hobbies was attending Salsa class and

going to Latin dance shows. Carlotta loved to listen to and dance to salsa

music. Her favorite color was blue, and she loved wearing her blue

baseball cap everywhere she went. Carlotta was a hard worker and loved

making her family and others happy. Carlotta was known for getting the

family together. She prepared a large Thanksgiving dinner every year for

the family. She had a substitution menu for you if you didn't eat meat.

Carlotta was loving, caring, and kindhearted.

Carlotta was preceded in death by her sister, Yvonne Singleton;

brother, Charles W. Singleton; and father, Charles Singleton Sr.

She leaves to cherish fond memories: her mother, Josephine

Singleton; five sisters, Charlene Diaz-Singleton, Corlis McMichael,

Sharon Jackson (Gerard Jackson), Vera Baerga, and Veronica Singleton;

six nephews, Steven McDonald, Lewis Sampson, Anthony Rivera, Jason Baerga, and Robert Brown; three

nieces, Christina Sinclair, Monica Diaz, and Desiree Singleton; and very

close and best friends, Shirley and Percenia. Several great nieces, great

nephews, extended family, and friends had the pleasure of knowing and

loving her, and will miss her dearl
