Obituary

Barbara Jean Williams was born to the parentage of Geneva (Purnell) Williams and Donald Eugene Williams in September 16, 1941in Macon, Georgia. She moved to New York around the age of 9, where she attended New :York City Public Schools and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. Barbara attended Fordham University in New York city and majored in Education. Barbara was an educator in the New York School System for a number of years. She later went to graduate school to pursue a career in social work until her retirement. Community was an important part of Barbara's values, where she engaged and advocated equality for all. She engaged in the fashion community, and was considered a very fashionable person. Affectionately know as "BG", Barbara embodied the spirit of a New Yorker; driven, determined, yet graceful. Barbara is survived by her three (3) children Stephanie Gardiner-Parker, Erik Gardiner, and Iman E. Grant. Barbara is also survived by four (4) grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
