Obituary

Barbara Jean Norfleet-Darden was born second of six children in New York City to her proud parents, John and Charlie May Norfleet, on July 14, 1944. Barbara graduated from New York City's Julia Richman High School. After completing two years of college at New York University, she was employed by AT&T as a Communications Specialist, retiring after 25 years of service. In 1971, Barbara met and married Army Veteran Milford J. Darden. Milford was awarded the purple heart for courage while serving in Vietnam. They were happily married until Milford departed in 1996. For over 25 years, Barbara was an active member of The First Baptist Church on 145th Street. Barbara loved to join her congregation on monthly trips to Bally's in Atlantic City. She was quite lucky with the slots. Her last 25 years were spent with her best friend, King Rivers, until his death on July 2, 2020. She leaves to mourn and cherish fond memories: two brothers, Kevin Norfleet, and Charles Hylton, sister-in-law Angela Hylton; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and dear friends. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Love submitted by, The Family
