Babington A.
Quame Jr.
d. Jul 4, 2026
As a little boy, JR once excitedly discovered earthworms in the backyard of the apartment building where he grew up. He raced upstairs to tell his siblings and the neighborhood children so they could all share in his excitement. By the time everyone returned, a light drizzle had begun, and the earthworms had burrowed back into the soil. It was a small moment that reflected the person JR would always be: someone whose greatest joy came from sharing life's discoveries with the people he loved.
Babington Quame Jr., affectionately known as JR, departed this earthly life on July 4, 2026, at the age of 47.
Born to Dr. Babington A. Quame and Mrs. Vivian D. Quame, JR was the youngest of three children. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and leaves behind his devoted siblings, Radcliffe Quame and Bridgette Quame. He was a proud uncle to his niece, Sarah Quame, and his twin nephews, Tyce and Tyler Cannon.
JR also leaves behind his beloved cousins, David Aggrey Orleans, Spencer Okudzeto, Sidney Okuzdeto, Rodney Adu, Felix Adu, Jaclyn Adu, and Sandra Barnes, as well as extended family members and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A longtime resident of Washington Heights in New York City, JR was known for his warm heart, friendly spirit, and unwavering dedication. He took great pride in every job he held and always strived to do his very best. In his final position as a mailroom clerk at a law firm, he was admired for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the smile he brought with him each day.
JR had a passion for sports, video games, travel, movies, and shopping. More than anything, however, he treasured the people in his life. He had a remarkable way of staying connected, regularly calling and checking in on family and friends simply to see how they were doing. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine concern for others made everyone feel valued and loved.
Those who knew JR will remember him as a friendly, outgoing man whose laughter, compassion, and positive outlook brightened every room he entered. His legacy is one of love, generosity, hard work, and unwavering loyalty to those he cared about.
Though his time with us was far too short, JR's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Just as he once rushed to share a simple backyard discovery with those around him, he spent his life sharing his kindness, laughter, and love with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
