Obituary

Anthony K. Perry was born on October 14, 1968, in Spanish Harlem, New York, to his loving parents, Georgia Mae Knox and Joe Louis Perry. He was the third of four children. After his family migrated from Union, South Carolina, and his mother's untimely passing, he was raised by his grandmother, Jessie Mae Knox, and aunt, Juanita Knox, in James Johnson Housing Projects. After attending Julia Richman High School and being a young man in Spanish Harlem during the 80s, Anthony made some mistakes in his life. But, he learned valuable lessons and would take his new-found hustle mentality to obtain his GED, become an entrepreneur, and own several businesses throughout his life. In his later years, he became ill and in need of a kidney transplant, but even then, that didn't let that stop him or break his spirit. He then settled into the security field and never for a moment looked back. Everything was a hustle, and hustle he did. Anthony met his loving wife, Rowena Gaffney, and was married on August 23, 1998. They fostered many nephews and nieces throughout their marriage, raising them as their own. They helped to guide, protect and love them. Anthony ensured all his family stayed together and connected. Later in life, Anthony met his domestic partner and second love Krystal Ayala. Their relationship resulted in two beautiful children, Anthony Xavier Perry Jr. and Jayden Elijah Perry. Anthony Jr. (also known as Zay) and Jayden (also known as Jay) were the light of his life, and he instilled in them the best parts of himself. Anthony was baptized into the Baptist religion and believed that his faith in God would guide him throughout his life. With that belief, he gave all of himself to all he came in contact with, trying to make sure to leave them better off from knowing him. After battling and conquering Covid-19 for five months, Anthony departed this life on June 7, 2022, succumbing to its lasting complications. He has gone on to join his parents, grandmother, and aunt. He leaves behind to mourn and cherish his fond memories: his loving wife, Rowena Perry; children, Anthony Xavier Perry Jr., and Jayden Elijah Perry; loving partner, Krystle Ayala; siblings, Simone Perry, Lebron Louis Perry, and Jerome Perry; his loving nieces, Shaniqua Griffin, Tyshea Perry, Tiana Perry, Crystal Mayo, Ta'kerra Micthell, Ahnyjah Mitchell, Amanda Nicole Awal, and Allison Mary Esannason; and his nephews, Joseph Griffin, Lebron Louis Perry Jr., Roland Hennigan, Dyshawn Louisdhon, Tyshawn Louisdhon, Tykim Mitchell, Ta'jon Mitchell, Carlton Leon Gaffney, and Andrew Samuel Gaffney. He also leaves behind several great-nieces and great-nephews; two loving mothers-in-law, Pearl Johnson and Wanda Garcia; and a host of other loving family members and friends. May his soul rest in everlasting peace and remain in our hearts and minds forever. Amen
