Andre Sumpter was born on November 24, 1958, to his parents, Walter Peele and Harriet Sumpter.
He was the third child of five children. The family resided in Harlem, NY, and the Bronx, NY.
Andre attended elementary and middle school in Harlem, NY, and also went to DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx, New York.
As a young man, Andre worked for his father's construction company. He had many jobs that involved him using his hands skillfully.
He finally was led to his calling to work in the cleaning industry.
Eventually, he started his own cleaning company, which he proudly spoke of.
Andre had a passion for music, food, and sports. He was very humorous and charming and was a social butterfly. He made friends very quickly wherever he went.
Later in life, Andre gave himself to the Lord and became a man of God by becoming a Christian.
He loved attending church and praising the Lord. Whenever asked to say a prayer, his prayers were like no other; they were moving and touching. They were filled with the Holy Spirit.
Andre loved his family and friends dearly. And he enjoyed talking and laughing with them during telephone conversations or in person. He was also a great storyteller.
Andre departed this life on July 9, 2022, and has joined his parents and his two brothers, Curtis Sumpter and Kevin Sumpter, in heaven.
He leaves to mourn and cherish fond memories, his three loving children: Nicole Sumpter of Queens, NY, Andre Sumpter of Houston, TX, and Angela Sumpter of Hartford, CT; four grandsons, Ryan Codrington, Kyle Codrington, Elijah Sumpter, and Jeremiah Sumpter; his two brother's David Larone Sumpter and Allen Sumpter and a host of cousins, and extended loving family and dear friends.
Andre will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
