Mrs. Algia M. Zanders was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on October 17, 1926.  She was the beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bryant, both of whom are deceased.

At an early age, Mrs. Zanders was brought to New York City by an older sibling, where she attended school and pursued her passion for education.

Upon reaching adulthood, Mrs. Zanders became an active member of Mt. Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem.  As well, she worked diligently as an election poll worker for many years in Harlem and was recognized for this valuable service by the Manhattan Borough President.

Mrs. Zanders met Jesse Zanders and they were married by Reverend Al Sharpton in a simple ceremony. They remained married for many years until the untimely death of Jesse Zanders.

After retiring from her work in private industry, Mrs. Zanders remained a loyal member of Mt. Neboh until her death on Wednesday, December 28, 2022  at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

She leaves to mourn and cherish fond memories: several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of understanding friends.
