Obituary

Albertha Davis, the third child of eleven, was born June 19, 1936 in Georgetown County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Sammie and Maebell Trappier Beach. In 1954, she moved to Manhattan, New York where she met and married the late Vanderbilt Davis and to this union five children were born. Albertha was known and loved by so many people. She always lent a helping hand to those who were in need. She was a very loving mother that took care of her children and also helped raise some of her grandchildren. She never had a malicious bone in her body. Albertha was a member of Salvation and Deliverance Church for over 30 years where she served on the Mothers Board. Her death was a great shock to so many people. She will always be loved and missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and son Anthony Davis. She departed this life on January 1, 2014 and leaves to cherish fond memories: three daughters, Vanessa Hutchinson of the Bronx, NY, Lena Davis-Johnson of Manhattan, NY and Lorraine Davis-Britt of Manhattan, NY; a son, Andre Davis of Manhattan, NY; eleven grandchildren, Tamika, James, Anthony, Jasmine, Iesha, Kashiem, Kiesha, Joey, Shalonda, Khorey, and D'Vonte; eight great grandchildren, Adam, Suelei, Tai'nyah, Arrei-niiya, Amani, Messiah, and Alexandria; a sister, Barbara Ann Brown of Georgetown, SC; two brothers, Sammie and John (Wesley) Beach of Pamplico, SC; three sons-in-law, Dave Johnson, Guy Britt and Orrin Hutchinson; two of her closest friends, Everlyn Grubbs and Mary Little; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
