Kelvin Devagello Brown was born on April 4, 1964 in Birmingham, Al to John W. Brown III and Dorothy Mickels Brown. He was formerly married to Sarita Gregory Brown Walker and to that union was born K'Shune D. Brown who preceded his father in death on December 27, 2020.
Kelvin accepted the Lord at Salvation and Deliverance Church, New York, NY in 2010 and was baptized under the leadership of Apostle Jerome King. He attended Booker T. Washington Junior High School, NY, NY and Brandeis High School NY, NY. He received a GED diploma from New York City Department of Education and went on to study Computer Programming at the local computer school. Through the years, he worked in construction. He was a Porter at the Harlem Hebrew Language Academy Charter School, New York, NY, until the onset of the 2020 COVID-19 global pandemic.
All agree that Kelvin was a kind-hearted and gentle man with a loving spirit and an infectious smile. He is remembered for his quick wit and penchant for good humor. He was a avid reader with a passion for animals and insects. His youth was filled with light hearted mischief and misadventures with his beloved pets. Kelvin went out of his way to help all those in need. His warm spirit made him well suited for any setting. He was attentive to his family and his presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kelvin made his transition from labor to reward on Saturday, March 27, 2021. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his mother, Dorothy V. Brown of New York, NY; father, John W. Brown III of Birmingham, Al; stepdaughter, Lenae Wilson of Birmingham, AL; grandson, Kaleb Sipp of Birmingham, AL; brother, Gerald K. Brown of Hackensack, NJ; sister, Deidre P. Brown of New York, NY; sister-in-law, Florence Mitchell-Brown; nephews, Noah R. Brown, Jeremiah A. Brown, and Caleb R. Brown of Teaneck, NJ; aunts, Louise Stringer of Marietta, GA, Vera Baylor of Solon, OH and Gwendolyn Erby of Southfield, MI; uncles, Thomas Mickels of Southfield, MI and Milton Mickels of Columbus, GA; and a host of cousins. He also leaves: his best friends, Ronald Townsend of Anaheim, CA and Victor Stewart of Baltimore, MD; and many friends and acquaintances. Kelvin knew no strangers.
