Obituary

On May 10, 2020 our beloved Eugertha Salaam known to all as "Pippy" was called home by the Lord after a year long illness, where she will join her husband Khalil Salaam, Father Charles Hunt Jr., Mother Clara Hunt, and Sister Renee Hunt in Paradise.

Pippy was born on August 23rd, 1948. She was a Harlem Girl being raised in Stephen Foster / King Towers projects by her parents Charles Sidney Hunt Jr and Clara Hunt with her younger siblings Renee and Charles. Pippy enjoyed her childhood there and with her sister and many friends attended local schools. While attending JHS 13 Pippy joined the band and enjoyed playing the flute. Pippy continued her education, graduating from Charles Evans Hughes High School.

Pippy met and fell in love with the Late Khalil Salaam, they married and out of this union they shared 2 children Ayana Khadija Salaam and Ahmed Khalil Salaam.

Pippy worked in the courier industry, she started at Can Carriers in 1978, Joined Olympic Courier in 1984 and continued there until her retirement. While the company name may have changed over the years, the one constant force throughout the years was Pippy. She was loved by both her co-workers and customers.

Pippy the "Neighborhood Mogul", made everyone laugh and smile whenever you had a conversation with her. She opened her doors to many and loved anyone who loved her children. If you ever sat in her living room, she would greet everyone when she walked in from work, by saying " Wassup My Niggas" ....... another one of her famous lines was “Alright now”. The family wants everyone to remember the good times.

Pippy leaves behind her Brother and his Wife Charles and Cheryl; her two beautiful children Ayana and Ahmed; her lovely grandchildren Kori, Jordyn and Malia; her nephews Cornell and Caleb her niece Cherice and a host of cousins.

The time we shared will forever be remembered. You are truly missed and highly loved. Sleep in Peace.
