Patricia, also known as “Pat” by all, and “Aunty” by many, lived in NYC her entire life. Growing up on 159th street, in Harlem, she amassed a host of family and friends. The “159th Sugar Hill family” was her extended family, and she loved them dearly. Pat was fierce, loyal, and so strong.
The world was Pat’s classroom, and she mastered it, as best as she could, with street smarts and quick wit. A beautiful woman who commanded any room she entered. Quick to check you and love on you, all in the same breath. Pat was indeed one of a kind woman. She had the type of personality that deserved her own TV show. A sense of humor out of this world that could make you laugh, even when you were feeling low. While her mother, Barbara, and big brother, James, were her best friends, Pat would lend her ear to anyone who needed it and wasn’t ashamed to share her soul with others. She made you feel safe and loved, and our worlds were great to have had her in it.
To say that she will be missed is an understatement. Her family is broken up because she was always present. There for birthdays, graduations, Doctor visits, court dates, summer BBQs, or just for a supermarket run. It is very important to note how much Pat loved riding the bus, it was a quirk of hers that was cute, and made who she was to everyone, that much better. She would give her last, to make sure those she cared for were taken care of, and that is what she did, till her last breath.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Louis Green, grandmother(s), Mary North and Esther Johnson, grandfather(s), James Melvin Johnson and Richard North, uncle, Harry Gotlieb, cousin, Stanley H. Baker and beloved aunt, Nancy Jane Gotlieb.
