Life Story for Ina Cecilia Armstrong

Ina Cecilia Armstrong departed this life on Thursday, 02/22/18 and has gone to join her mother, Agnes, and sister, Claire. She leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Geraine of Falls Church, Va.; her brother-in-law, Carlton, Sr., of Spring Valley, N.Y.; her nephew and his wife, Carlton, Jr. and Alexis, of Newburgh, N.Y.; several relations in St. Croix, and a multitude of longtime friends throughout the country.

Ina was born on March 5, 1935 in Christiansted, St. Croix. She and her family came to Manhattan, where she finished her education and, at the age of 18 joined her mother at what is now known as Verizon. Intelligent and diligent in all parts of her life, she began as an operator and was in management when she retired from the phone company at the age of 65. Never one to be idle, she then studied for and obtained certification as a paralegal.

Ina was a faithful member of the St. Cecilia Parish. She had a passion for travel, activity and community. Before and after her retirement, she traveled often around the country, as well as throughout Europe and the Caribbean. She was an avid and elegant skier who also enjoyed rollerblading and being a member of the Central Park Walkers.

Ina lived her life to the fullest and will be remembered lovingly by all those who had the honor of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at of-ina-armstrong. Donations will be distributed between the St. Cecelia Parish restoration project and the National Kidney Foundation.
